I don’t need to tell you about Steve Wiebe, Billy Mitchell, and that chinese who were breaking each other’s records in Donkey Kong, because i assume you all guys, watched “King of Kong” movie. If you didn’ t maybe you should consider watching a fashion blog or something.

The fact is that Twin Galaxies, is reporting that the people’s champ, Steve Wiebe broke the record held by that chinese guy in Donkey Kong, scoring no less than 1,062,800.

“Wiebe, who has attempted regaining the record at numerous live events over the years, recorded his championship game on August 30 for submission to Twin Galaxies, who verified and announced the score on Monday, September 20 as the new World Record.” Sayd twin galaxies’s website.

I cannot stop wondering how are they making this scores, keeping in mind that Donkey Kong HAS a Killer screen at some point in the game, but, i don’t mind, as long as the record keeper is Steve.

25 years of Happy Mario as they call it.

I was wondering how i could express my gratitude to the “Jumpman”, for all that he gave me, so, here i am, i will try to simplify all his life in one post.

Here we go!

Mario is not just known in the videogame world, but in the whole world. In fact he is more popular than superman.

Born in 1981 as jumpman, he starred alongside with Donkey Kong, the Donkey kong game.

In 1982 “Jumpman” as he was called adopted the Mario name, to star as a villain in Donkey Kong jr. This was the only time, Mario was a villain in his whole career.

In 1983, he got his first videogame, called Mario Bros. where he had to eliminate all kind of pests that were beneath New York city.

Due to its succes, Shigeru Miyamoto, his creator, decided to make a game for the console to come out in 1985. Super Mario Bros.

Since then, Mario has appeared in 132 games, and the mushroom kingdom were never to be the same.

Thousands of friends, family members, jobs, allies, villains, princess, mushrooms, etc… were created since then, and will continue to be created for us to have fun with this mighty plumber.

Mario.

He is the eldest of the Mario brothers, his height is 1,55 and he weights 69kgs. Used to live in New York, but he is now a proud citizen of the mushroom kingdom. He first saved Pauline, his girlfriend, but then he decided to let her go, maybe cause she was cheating him with Dk, we will never know, and decided to go on with Peach, princess of Mushroom Kingdom.

He first started working as a carpenter, then he decided he was better on plumbing, and finally he became a hero.

He is known for his quotes “t’s a me, Mario!”, “Let’s a go”, “Here we Go!” and “Mamma mia”! It is said that his voice is very similar to Charles Martinett’s voice.

He worked as referee in punch out! as a teacher in Mario tennis and Mario Golf,  painter, judge, soccer player, basketball player, astrounaut, and many others.

Many spinoffs were created since Mario, cartoons, movies, books, magazines, and all kind of merchandising.

I would rather not talk about the movie, in were the bombs used reebok shoes, and Luigi was John Leguizamo.

Many things were sold with the Mario image. From Pepsi to cereal, toothpaste, shirts, hats, and so on.  But there is nothing like playing a good ol’ Mario game.

So Mario, have the greatest Birthday of all time, and keep us happy, because you are happy mario!

For those who didn´t played the Sands trilogy, besides that you are an alien, here´s a brief resume of the series.

The prince (it is just the prince. in the games the name is just prince, never a name) activates the sands of time, he fall in love with a princess, a vizier wants to rule persia, the prince beats him, the princess dies, the prince uses the power of the sands to resurrect her, the Dahaka appears, chaos is free in persia, you cannot beat the Dahaka, a dark prince tooks over the body of the Prince, you are bad, and good, and bad, if water touches the dark prince he comes back to normal state, the prince wants to fuck the princess, the princess dissapears, he wants to fuck the priestess of time, he succeed ( i think) big butt girls appears, big tits girls appears, the prince wants to fuck them, he kills the big butted one, so he doesn´t fuck her ( i think), and now as the creators are out of ideas, a sequel between first and second game comes out that i didn´t play yet.

Well that´s pretty much it about the games.

Now let me review the movie for you.

It´s a Disney movie. You go to the movie, expecting a 10 year old blockbuster movie. IT IS NOT.

The movie industry got us, gamers, to think that a game movie is never a good movie. Only maybe with agent 47 and a decent adaptation of Hitman, we started to think that a good movie of a game was possible.

This POP movie is the exception. I saw lots of review saying that this movie had no plot, and etc…

The plot is exactly the same that the games. There will be a sequel, hopefully with the Dahaka, and all that came with the release of the sands of time.

It is a great movie. The prince character is greatly played by Jake Gyllenhaal, Ben Kingsley is the perfect shot for the Vizier, the princess is Ok, and the direction of the movie is perfect by Mike Newell.

The stunts are great, is the old good parkour style by the prince and there are lots of moments in the movie that you will say “JUST LIKE THE GAME YEEEEAAAAH”

The shots of the cameras are like the contextual cameras in the game (great addition if you ask me) and the movie playtime is great, compared to the long and sometimes boring 3 hours of “Pirates of the caribean”

I compare to Pirates, because as you know, Jerry Bruckenhaimer is behind this movie, and thankfully it is not like pirates. Expect Blood, massacres, arrows, deaths, and more darkness than i had expected. Actually i was surprised to see the Prince staring at the princess tits in a Disney movie.

In a word, “Prince of Persia: Sands of time” was a great movie, it covered my long time expectations, it surprised me in lots of ways, and it keeps you awaiting for the sequel.

As closing comment i give POP movie, 9 out of 10 points, go watch it and, if possible don´t expect for the dvd, run to a movie near you.

That made me think. What was the worst games of all times?

I came to the conclusion, that good ol´ granpa, is going to tell you a story.

I was about 4 or 5 years old when this happened. Would you say you remember? yes, of course, everything with a joystick is a clear memory in my head.

It is 1983 and E.T. the movie is out on the cinemas. A growing videogame company, famous for developing games like, Space Invaders, and the glorious Pong, tought it would be a great idea to purchase the rights to convert that movie into a game.

Atari, ladies and gentleman.

The game sucked in such a way, that they almost had to give away all of the game cartridges they had. As they couldn´t sell them even almost for free, and as the gov. didn´t allow them to give them for free, they had the greatest idea of getting 20 trucks, load aaaaaalll of them with the remaining cartdriges in stock and travel a looooong way to New Mexico. Specifically, the  ¨Alamogordo¨ and dumped them in that location.

Don´t even bother in get there to get your free copy of E.T. for your old Atari 2600. They assured to pay a good amount to the owner of the lands, so that little adventure remained a secret, and to prevent scavengers, but somebody from a local newspaper ¨Alamogordo daily news¨ discovered Atari´s plan and wrote an Article in the newspaper. Soon the Feds. discovered, that Atari was throwing not only ET cartdridges in there, but a lot of different titles, so they sent Atari to the court.

Owners of Atari confirmed this was true, and they stated that it ¨was mostly sending broken and returned cartridges to the Alamogordo dump and that it was “by-and-large inoperable stuff.”

Court of El Paso confined Atari to pay a large amount for using their lands as a dump, and on September 29, 1983, a layer of concrete  was poured on top of the crushed materials, a rare occurrence in waste disposal. An anonymous workman’s stated reason for the concrete was: “There are dead animals down there. We wouldn’t want any children to get hurt digging in the dump.¨

This strange events gave birth to the first decadence of the videogames, an era which was called: North American video game crash of 1983.

But now, my sons, it is time to go to sleep, that is another history that granpa will tell you someday. Please, sleep and don´t let ET: The atari game come to your dreams.

Now, we discovered that the big N have just registered today a new name in Japan.

Its name is POWER WII.

What comes to everyone’s mind is a new WII, a more powerfull WII, the next gen in Nintendo home consoles.

It could be anything, but the rumors and the devs from various software companies let slip that Miyamoto Shigeru gave them the clue for a new home system coming out in 2012.

We hope not to see a glove like the Nes one back in the day. We don’t know what it will be, maybe it was what the Mayans were talking about….

Nintendo cannot say the same. I remember Nintendo or Reggie Fills saying that “The new dsi will have features and new games to use with the built-in cameras”. I remember going nuts to buy it, remember the day i got it from my gf who traveled to the states, and most of all i remember the N64 kid look alike in my face.

Well everyone who knows a little about videogames, knows that the only game for the built in cameras in the dsi, is wario ware and that´s it.

So Nintendo let slip some new features for the DS2.

Ipod touch and Iphone, is crushing good old Mario, so, they decided it is time.

Here are some supposed details on Ds2:

• The new system features a dual screen, typical and characteristic of the original DS unit. However, the main difference is that the gap between the two screens are almost negligible, to the point that the user can use it as one big screen. It is also said to feature bigger and higher resolution.
• DS2 will feature an accelerometer.

• The dev kit is designed to be similar in power to the GameCube. As you may have already heard, the new DS is rumored to have an Nvidia Tegra chip.

What all this means? We will see Mario sunshine, Mario golf, Mario Tennis, Mario basket, Mario ping-pong, in a better way. But of course with a great Marketing campaign that we all would like to buy. Of course i will buy it. But i am not sure when. Knowing Nintendo, i am pretty sure in 2 months from its release, the DS2 ultrabigwithhugescreensandtoasterandmarmelade will come out to “fix” holes the first DS2 left. Expect 39 models with updated from the new DS2 in the next 5 years.

Maybe it´s been a while since i dont write and it feels like this blog is old on news. So, here they are, news, old news, actual news…a recap.

Nintendo wii 2 to be released on 2011:  It was said, and the rumor has it. A new Wii should hit the stores on 2011. As a part of the new gen consoles, the wii 2 is said to be up to date with the next gen consoles of this actual generation. Got that? it means that a wii 2 will have the technology of a ps3 or maybe a xbox 360. Bad thing is that when this happens these consoles would be in a real next gen, so it means that we will be able to struggle again, trying to be justifying ourselves saying “Hey i can wield a lightsaber like never before” and your friends will tell you….”yeah, but in my ps4 i can see a real lightsaber, not an 8 bit lightsaber”

Nintendo ds…Okamiden: Same old Classic Okami, but this time for our gf´s whispers.

Nintendo Wii… Samurai Warriors 3: You will be able to buy the stand alone game, orrrrrrr…..THE NEW CLASSIC CONTROLLER PRO bundle. The new Controller features some nice japanese style drawings in gold. Get ready for smashing and replacing the B button, it´s the only button you will press in this game.

PS3…..Sing and draw: A real cool game….for the wii. Seems like PS3 is not having enough copying the wii, so, they decided not to show another God of war 3 trailer, but they show….SING AND DRAW. A game were you use your new ps3 motion controller, and sing with a mic. Really cool….for a WII.

XBOX360….Bayonetta, Gears of war 3, and lot of others… I think i will finally buy a Xbox 360. Great games to come, Bayonetta, a game were you seek revenge in WWII, some nice inglorious basterds look alike. Gears of war 3. What to say? assured fun. Also there were a live demo of project natal. Very fun. Super space invaders, controlled with your body (???) of course you´ve never seen a super space invaders, played with so much lag.

The best of TGS 2009 to play with.

We are a town were it is believed, that if you play a videogame, you are a kid.

Of course, as a retrograde town, we don´t know much about rating in videogames, this people doesn´t know about rated +18 or things like that.

Imagine that we are the biggest sellers of sega joysticks at the price of a wiimote.
